Celebrating Father Gerald Tivy’s 60th Jubilee
On a momentous day at St. Joseph’s in Palatine, the Little Sisters of the Poor community gathered to celebrate Father Gerald Tivy’s 60th Jubilee. A jubilee for a priest is a special celebration, often occurring every 25 or 50 years of their priesthood, marked by reflection, gratitude, and renewal of vows, as well as recognition of their service and dedication to the church community. The event was graced by the presence of two esteemed bishops, Most Reverend Joseph M. Siegel, Auxiliary Bishop of Joliet and the Most Reverend Daniel Conlon, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Joliet alongside 8 more members of the holy clergy, marking the significance of Father Tivy’s six decades of unwavering service to the Church and its faithful. The Jubilee Mass was a beautiful and solemn occasion, filled with heartfelt prayers, hymns, and reflections on Father Tivy’s remarkable journey and contributions.
The celebration was not only a tribute to Father Tivy’s spiritual leadership but also a testament to the deep bonds he has formed within the community. Bishop Conlon and Reverend Father William De Salvo shared touching anecdotes and words of appreciation of their first encounter with Father Tivy being their freshman year in high school, highlighting the impact of Father Tivy’s ministry. As the congregation came together in prayer and song, the spirit of gratitude and joy was palpable, making it a truly memorable and inspiring event for all in attendance.
