Celebrating Mother Julie’s 25th Jubilee: A Day of Joy and Gratitude
On Monday, July 25, our beloved Mother Julie Marie of the Sacred Heart, who serves as our Mother Provincial, celebrated her remarkable 25th Jubilee. It was a day filled with reverence, jubilation, and heartfelt camaraderie that brought together Residents and Sisters from not only our home, but Saint Mary’s Home in Chicago and St. Augustine in Indianapolis.
The festivities commenced with a soul-stirring Mass in our chapel, presided over by the Most Reverend Bishop Mark Bartosic, an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Chicago, accompanied by several local priests. The chapel overflowed with a diverse assembly: our dedicated staff, compassionate nurses, enthusiastic volunteers, cherished Residents, devoted Sisters, loving families, and supportive friends.
Sister Maria Grace graced us with her melodious flute, while Sister Amy Marie and Brother Tom led a choir comprising Residents from Saint Joseph’s Home in Palatine and Saint Mary’s Home in Chicago. Their harmonious voices, honed over weeks of practice, lifted spirits during the ceremony. Additionally, a bells choir, conducted by Cindy DeLuca featuring employees of Little Sisters of the Poor Saint Joseph’s Home and talented violinists Nadia and Julian Roasdi, delivered an enchanting performance of “Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring” and “Joyful Joyful We Adore Thee.”
Amidst this reverent atmosphere, Mother Julie joyously renewed her holy vows, reaffirming her commitment to our community’s sacred mission. Following Mass, Residents gathered for a special celebratory lunch, where Mother Julie personally visited all of the Residents, spreading warmth and kindness.
The festivities continued with an inclusive lunch for employees, followed by a gathering where all the Sisters, alongside family and friends, shared a meal. The day culminated in our auditorium filled with laughter and camaraderie as everyone enjoyed ice cream, cake, and shared personal moments.
Mother Julie’s Jubilee was not just a celebration of her dedication but a testament to the love and unity that defines our community and the mission of the Little Sisters of the Poor.
Join us in celebrating Mother Julie and the spirit of love and service that she embodies. Here’s to many more years of her inspiring leadership and unwavering devotion!
