In early July, our hearts were filled with gratitude as we gathered to celebrate a truly special milestone: 150 years of the Little Sisters of the Poor serving the elderly poor throughout the Chicagoland area.
It was a beautiful and joyful day as Little Sisters, Residents, families, friends, volunteers, staff, donors, and faithful supporters came together to give thanks for a century and a half of love, care, and service.
Our celebration was graciously hosted at the beautiful Felician Sisters Convent, where we began the day with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in their lovely chapel. Together, we offered our prayers of thanksgiving to God for His many blessings and for all those who have helped carry forward the mission of St. Jeanne Jugan here in Chicagoland.
Following Mass, everyone gathered for a wonderful reception filled with conversation, laughter, fellowship, and many happy memories. It was especially meaningful to see so many people who have been part of our mission throughout the years gathered together in one place.
For 150 years, the Little Sisters have been blessed to care for generations of elderly men and women, providing them with a loving Home where they are treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. None of this would be possible without the goodness of God and the generosity of the countless people who have supported our mission through their prayers, time, friendship, and generosity.
To everyone who joined us for this special celebration, thank you for sharing this joyful day with us. To those who were unable to attend but remembered us in their prayers and sent their good wishes, please know how grateful we are for you as well.
As we reflect on the many blessings of the past 150 years, we are reminded of the incredible legacy entrusted to us. With grateful hearts and trust in Divine Providence, we look forward to continuing the beautiful mission of St. Jeanne Jugan and serving the elderly poor with love and dignity for many years to come.
