There are some days that simply bring a smile to everyone’s face, and Lincoln’s birthday is certainly one of them!
Our Little Sisters and Residents from St. Joseph’s Home were delighted to make the trip into Chicago to celebrate the 7th birthday of Lincoln, the beloved four-legged friend of our Little Sisters of the Poor Home there. It has become such a fun tradition for our Homes, and we are always grateful for the opportunity to spend this special day together.
Our Residents and Little Sisters boarded the bus along with a few furry friends of their own and headed into the city. When we arrived, we were welcomed by our friends from St. Mary’s Home in Chicago, neighbors from the community, and of course, plenty of excited pups ready to celebrate the birthday boy.
This year, the party was moved indoors due to weather, but that did not stop wagging tails, happy barks, and lots of laughter from happening. Nearly 25 dogs of all shapes and sizes joined in the fun. There were plenty of pets, belly rubs, treats, and new friends to be made. Lincoln was certainly the star of the day and seemed very happy to receive all of the extra attention!
One of the sweetest parts of the celebration was Lincoln’s special dog-friendly birthday cake, lovingly prepared in the Little Sisters’ kitchen. Lincoln and his furry guests were more than happy to help make sure not a crumb went to waste!
As much as we love seeing all of the dogs together, what makes this day especially meaningful is the time we are able to share with one another. Our Residents and Little Sisters enjoyed visiting with friends from our Chicago Home, sharing a meal, catching up, and simply enjoying a beautiful day together. Seeing so many smiles reminded us once again how much joy can be found in the simplest moments.
We are so grateful to our Little Sisters and friends in Chicago for welcoming us so warmly and for making Lincoln’s birthday such a wonderful celebration. It was a day filled with friendship, laughter, and many happy memories that our Residents will surely treasure. We feel very blessed to have been part of the celebration and are already looking forward to another pawty next year!
