Welcome Mother General Maria del Monte Auxiliadora!
Mother General came all the way from France to visit, and of all places, Palatine is her first stop! She and Mother Assistant Joseph Christine were greeted with American, French, Scottish, and Spanish flags to represent their homes.
Our oldest Resident, 102-year-old Anna presented Mother General with a bouquet of flowers and greeted Mother General in Italian, one of the 3 languages Mother General is fluent in. Roy, our English Resident, greeted the Scottish Mother Assistant Joseph Christine.
The environment in the Home this week is full of cheer as we are so delighted to experience such a joyous occasion.
Along with many meetings with our Sisters, during Mother General’s week-long stay, she presented each Resident with a gift. The Residents and staff showcased their talents with a variety show featuring our Resident exercise ball drum ensemble and a Sister Act song and dance routine.
In honor of our beloved Bears, we presented Mother with a Justin Field’s autographed Chicago Bears Jersey (graciously donated by our dear friend Virginia McCaskey).
What a great blessing it was to have our dear Mother General with us, especially after all the postponements due to COVID. Our prayers go with her as she travels next to our Home in Queens, NY.
